Saturday 13th February

Today was beach day, went to Palm Beach which is one of the northern beaches and well known as the setting for Home and Away. All the local surf clubs were competing in various sea sports, rowing, paddling on a surf board, both standing and not, and swimming races. I can verify that the were some very fit looking individuals there. As well as this there was dinghy racing, with the spinnakers blowing out in the breeze, (looks so pretty!) Of course there were the usual surfers but also quite a lot of kite surfers (wondered how they didn't get their strings mixed up) and that looks amazing, just whizzing over the water jumping the waves, wish I was younger!

Lazing under the shade of a tree with my book I had plenty of distractions. Later in the afternoon the surf changed, the lifeguards put up the bluebottle signs and the sea was emptied of people. At this point we walked up to the lighthouse, not a great distance but almost vertical at the end.

Some of the other shots are of places in the programme, just fun to find them!

Went back home on the bus; can't get used to people on the bus with surfboards!
