Friday 5th February
So good to be back in Adelaide and wonderful to see my friends from the home exchange again.
After lots of catching up over a late breakfast we went to "my" beach where I spent so much time last time I was here. It's just great.....
After this we went to look at all the new building on North Parade, including the wonderful new hospital and science and medical research building. In the evening Bill and Pauline invited some of the people I met last time for a barbecue -so kind and a lovely evening.
Saturday 6th February
Fantastic day at the Adelaide Oval! We took a picnic and ate by the banks of the Torrens
then crossed the new footbridge
and joined a tour of the new Adelaide Oval. There was a match on between South Australia and Queensland so we were able to watch some of that first then started on the tour.
We went in to the press box,
where a solitary journalist was recording the match. On test match days more than one hundred journalists try to grab the front seats. The stadium seats 55000 and regularly, for both football and cricket matches, has an attendance of 4500.
One of the highlights of the tour was going inside the iconic scoreboard
where I was actually allowed to change the scoreboard (posted a bye and a change of bowler)!!!
We had a good view from the hill
and saw some of the equipment used to keep the pitch in form.
A visit to the changing rooms and baths
completed this two hour tour which, as well as being very informative was fabulous fun. I absolutely loved it!
